Those who have already pre-ordered the device in the First Edition Bundle will get an additional freebie – a DataConnect Pass for AT&T that entitles the user to 250MB of free over-the-air data.
The bad news is that the free time will only be allocated once some paid time has been purchased. Sony is also offering these paid customers a free (though unspecified) download title – but again, only once their AT&T card has been activated.
All of this comes in addition to the previously announced pre-order goodies which include a 4GB Vita memory card, a limited edition case and a free copy of Little Deviants.
And Sony is promising that all those who pre-order the 3G-enabled First Edition console from Amazon will receive on February 15th, a week ahead of its official February 22nd launch.
Described as being “extremely limited edition”, it will include an 8GB card, the AT&T DataConnect pass and a free unspecified PSN game. This SKU will be available to those who brave the cold and queue for the device on launch night. It will remain in shops for as long as the stock lasts.
Interestingly the total value of all the Launch Bundle freebies is $60, effectively offsetting the extra cost of the 3G machine. With reports that the 3G model is faring poorly in Japan, it looks as if Sony is doing all it can to ensure it fares better in the West.
